It's a story as old as time... a woman of science and medicine persecuted for her craft. Paula was forced to go into hiding after being accused of witchcraft for soothing a rotten outbreak of pneumonia in her village using her knowledge of medicinal herbs. You would think they'd be grateful. She was forced to mask her appearance and go on the run once the lords of the village were notified. But since then, there's been an outbreak of the plague in the town she's settled in whilst on the run, and she feels it practically unethical to sit idly by and not assist in healing the towns' people. To her luck, the garb worn by a plague doctor hides the face, so she can still go unnoticed. She's decided posing as a man would be safer for her, but still she's constantly forced to look over her shoulder in fear her identity will be discovered.
